Avi Patil, MD
Director of Research
Dr. Avil Patil is a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist with a unique dual board certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. He earned his medical degree and completed his OB/GYN residency at the University of Tennessee. He then completed his Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. Dr. Patil completed additional training with an NIH sponsored fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at UNCH-Chapel Hill and Pediatric Clinical Research at Duke Clinical Research Institute.
Within the scope of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Dr. Patil’s experience is in Personalized Medicine/Pharmacogenomics, preterm, and management of medical complications of pregnancy. He is one of the few practitioners in the country with this type of dual board certification.
Dr. Patil has presented nationally and published research articles in professional journals in the areas of preterm birth, medical complications of pregnancy, and medication safety in pregnancy. His clinical philosophy for patient care is to practice according to evidence-based guidelines while individualizing care based on cutting-edge research findings. He wants all of his patients to know that he will advocate for them so they can achieve the best possible outcome for their pregnancy.
