Shannon Santo, DNP
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Dr. Shannon Santo is a board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her DNP from Arizona State University in 2017, is certified in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring. She obtained her Associate Degree in Nursing from Mesa Community College in 2004, and her BSN from Arizona State University in 2013. She was an o˜cer in the Graduate Nurse Organization of Arizona State University (GNO) and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) honor society of nursing.
Dr. Santo gained her professional experience at Banner Health in Phoenix as a cardiovascular ICU and telemetry RN for two years and as an obstetric RN for nine years before returning to school for her DNP. After graduation, she was an OB Clinical Instructor in the MEPN program, at the University of Arizona, instructing nursing students in a hospital setting.
Dr. Santo is dedicated to women’s care. She gained experience working in Labor and Delivery, OB triage, OB operating room, and a high-risk OB unit. She contributed to improving patient care by mentoring nursing students and new L&D nurses on evidence-based practice and collaborated with a multidisciplinary team in planning care for high-risk antepartum patients. For her DNP graduate project she implemented a successful electronic early screening tool for diabetes in pregnancy based on ACOG guidelines in several valley clinics.
Dr. Santo is a member of the Arizona Nurses Association (AzNA), the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), and the Association of Women’s Health Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
